I investigate human confidence using simple decision-making tasks, requiring the use of incoming perceptual information. There are a number of theories explaining how humans may combine evidence from their senses to reach these decisions, and how processing of this evidence is related to confidence.

Using computational modelling and existing datasets I am exploring the behavioural implications of various accounts of decision-making and confidence. A key idea to arise is that properties of how people make decisions should not be overlooked, when studying confidence in those decisions. We are currently testing predictions arising from modelling, by preregistering and collecting new data.

More broadly, I am interested in simple behavioural tasks which may support a principled understanding of how perception is mapped to action.
